The Belmont Lions Club has started its annual Christmas tree sale, now in its 68th year. The trees, sourced from a farm in Nova Scotia, support the club’s community initiatives. NBC Boston reports that past visitors have included notable figures such as Matt Damon.
Operating under the motto “We Serve,” the Belmont Lions Club follows the same mission as Lions Clubs International, founded in 1917. The club focuses on local community service, and its annual Christmas tree sale reflects this commitment. More than 60 members, including residents and business owners, work together to support the town, according to Belmont Lions Club.
Purchases from the Belmont Lions Club this holiday season also support a charitable cause. This year, the group is donating proceeds to the Barton Center for Diabetes Education, chosen by club president Ken Krilla, who has personal experience with diabetes. The funds will help support the center’s educational programs.
