A section of the Green Trail at Birmingham Park in Milton will be temporarily closed for habitat restoration. The affected portion runs along the northern edge near the Little River and has experien, according to a recent announcement from the City of Milton.
The closure aims to support environmental recovery efforts benefiting local species, including box turtles, snakes, and armadillos that inhabit the area. Volunteers from the Young Men’s Service Chapter have assisted city staff in managing the closure and maintaining signage to protect the site.
The restoration will also focus on preserving the river cane growth, an ecologically important plant species in the region. While this section of the Green Trail will remain closed, other trails across Birmingham Park’s 200 acres will stay open for public use.
