Boston drivers should prepare for traffic disruptions due to several upcoming events and construction projects. The City of Boston announced road closures and parking restrictions across multiple neighborhoods to accommodate parades, races, and infrastructure work. Residents and visitors are advised to use public transportation, Bluebikes, or walk when possible.
The Veterans Day Parade tomorrow will affect Beacon Street, Boylston Street, Tremont Street, and Cambridge Street. The parade begins at Copley Square and ends at City Hall Plaza. The MBTA recommends purchasing round-trip tickets in advance.
Additional events include the Girls on the Run race on November 16 and the Camp Harbor View 5K on November 22, which will result in parking restrictions along Beacon Street, Charles Street, and nearby areas. Both races start and finish on Charles Street.
Roadwork on Massachusetts Avenue is also underway to improve infrastructure. Most work will occur overnight, but drivers should follow posted signs. The project is expected to last about two weeks.
The Canterbury Street Bridge remains closed to vehicles after a safety inspection, with pedestrian access still available. A detour via Hyde Park Avenue and nearby streets is in place.
On Sunday next week, the B.A.A. Half Marathon in Roxbury will cause additional parking restrictions near Franklin Park and surrounding streets.
City officials advise motorists to plan ahead and check the City of Boston website for updates on closures, restrictions, and detours.
