In a recent collaboration aimed at boosting cyber security awareness, officers from Boston Police Department's District E-5 have once again partnered with telecommunications giant AT&T. According to a statement made by the Boston Police Department, the joint effort centered around educating the elderly community at St. Nectarios Church in Roslindale on the nuances of safeguarding their digital presence.
Addressing a demographic often targeted by online fraudsters, the presentation focused on imparting crucial knowledge to the attendees. With cyber crimes escalating, ensuring that local seniors understand how to protect personal information, it marks a proactive step in community policing. The specifics of their guidance included strategies to spot scams and maintain online safety—a dire need for those who did not grow up in the digital age.
Both the Boston Police Department and AT&T were lauded for their initiative, with special acknowledgments directed towards the host. "A big thank you to St. Nectarios Church for hosting and to AT&T for being a valued partner to those we serve!" was the collective sentiment expressed by the Boston Police Department.
