Boston Police Department detectives from District A-1 are currently investigating a string of burglaries that have plagued businesses in the Downtown area since late August. The burglaries, which have continued to occur across several locations, including those under the watch of Boston University, Cambridge, and Northeastern University Police Departments, involve a suspect who has been gaining entrance into commercial properties during the nighttime hours with the use of a pry tool.
Recently, these criminal activities expanded their reach, with the Northeastern University Police Department reporting a similar incident on September 25. The suspect has been consistently described as a Black male, sporting a beard, and typically dressed in a black jacket or hoodie, a baseball cap with distinct lettering, and carrying a dark backpack. The stolen items noted include credit cards, cash, electronics, and potentially valuable camera equipment. The police are actively seeking to properly identify the person responsible for these acts of burglary.
Authorities are urging anyone who might have information regarding these burglaries or the suspect involved to come forward. "Detectives assigned to District A-1 are actively reviewing the facts and circumstances surrounding this incident," a statement from the BPD detailed, encouraging public participation in the investigation.
