A man from Boxford was arrested in New Hampshire on Thursday following a high-speed police pursuit. According to Boston 25 News, 22-year-old Mason Hebert drove a 2016 BMW X3 at speeds exceeding 120 mph on the northbound lanes of Interstate 95 near Hampton around 10:21 p.m., prompting a chase that crossed multiple towns.
The pursuit began after Hebert did not comply with attempts to stop his vehicle. The chase was later called off when he exited the highway and continued on Route 1, due to concerns for the safety of other motorists. NBC Boston reported that authorities later found the BMW parked behind a business off Lafayette Road, where Hebert was arrested and showed signs of impairment. He has been charged with reckless conduct and aggravated driving under the influence.
State Police reported that the pursuit ended after the driver exited the freeway. Hebert was taken into custody following the chase, during which he also drove with his exterior lights off. Boston 25 News stated that “despite attempts to stop the vehicle, the driver continued to evade police.”
Hebert was held at the Rockingham County Jail, with a hearing scheduled yesterday in Portsmouth District Court. New Hampshire State Police have asked anyone with additional information to contact Trooper Cameron Vetter, NBC Boston reports. The report also states that Hebert faces charges for disobeying an officer in addition to the previously reported offenses.
