
As the Thanksgiving holiday approaches, residents of Broward County are reminded of the various closures and service adjustments taking place. Governmental offices will be closed on Thursday and Friday, November 27 - 28, but emergency and essential services will still be available to some extent. Information pertaining to the modified services was published online for the convenience of the community.
For those in need of county information, the 311 Call Center will not be open, as detailed in an announcement on the county's website. However, the Homeless Helpline will offer after-hours support from 10 AM to 2 PM. Those needing assistance can call 954-563-4357. While branches of the Broward County Library system will be closed, their extensive digital resources remain accessible at all times, allowing for the streaming and downloading of various media.
Outdoors enthusiasts will find that with the exception of a few locations including Butterfly World and Deerfield Island Park, Broward County's parks will remain open on Thanksgiving Day. The day after, only the Target Range at Markham Park and administrative offices will be closed, as per the county announcement. A reminder for those planning to visit, the regional park's holiday gate fee of $3 per vehicle will apply.
Broward County Transit will be operating on a limited schedule for the holiday. On Thanksgiving Day, a Sunday schedule will be employed, offering reduced services, and no Express and breeze bus service will be running. Customer Service representatives can assist with trip planning from 6 AM to 8 PM, attending calls at 954-357-8400. While the administrative offices will stay closed on both days, regular weekday service will resume on Friday, November 28.
Travelers passing through Broward County's airports should take note that while the administrative offices will also be closed, operations at Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport and North Perry Airport will continue as usual. Trash collection services will see a disruption with no scheduled pickups occurring for the Broward Municipal Services District on Thursday. Regular service will however, resume on the following Monday, December 1. The Broward County Landfill will also be taking a break, closing on Thursday and Friday, though it will reopen on Saturday, November 29 for those looking to drop off waste.
