Cambridge is set to experience the fiery rhythms of flamenco as The Dance Complex hosts the cultural showcase Velada Flamenca on Saturday Through next Sunday. Headlining the event is the renowned Omayra Amaya and her flamenco dance company. Featuring a lineup of internationally celebrated guest artists, Velada Flamenca offers an experience that fuses flamenco tradition with contemporary innovation. Attendees will see Omayra Amaya’s acclaimed choreography alongside performances by renowned flamenco singer Juan Murube, virtuoso guitarist Roberto Castellon, and percussionist Rafael Heredia. The Dance Complex reports that critics have praised Amaya’s work as "mesmerizing… intense… splendid."
In addition to the professional performances, Velada Flamenca highlights the talents of Omayra Amaya’s students, who will present their repertory pieces, showcasing their artistic development. The event also features a community jam, inviting local musicians to participate and celebrate flamenco together, as per Cambridge Day.
