The festive spirit has a new postal route in Carmel, as the city rolls out special mailboxes dedicated for letters to Santa Claus. These aren't your run-of-the-mill USPS boxes; they're a direct line to the jolly old elf himself. Starting today, eager kids with Christmas wish lists in hand can dispatch their missives straight to Santa's workshop at the North Pole, courtesy of the City of Carmel's seasonal initiative. With a name and return address included, every letter dropped into one of these unique mailboxes by Dec. 14 is set to be whisked away for Saint Nick's prompt attention.
There are four destinations where these charming mail receptacles stand ready for holiday correspondence. One lives in the Arts & Design District, cozied up next to The Carmel Arts Council Children's Art Gallery at 40 W. Main St. Another can be found presiding over Midtown Plaza, outside the Sun King at 351 Monon Blvd. A third sentinel stands vigilant in the City Center, just north of the Veterans Way/Hanover Place stop sign. The final box resides at the Indiana Design Center, stationed near Santa's House at 200 S. Range Line Rd. For those unsure of their nearest mailbox location, the city provides guidance from Reggie the Elf in a YouTube video, making the process as smooth as a sled gliding over fresh snow.
To ensure absolute clarity on this initiative, a recent bulletin states, "children are encouraged to write their letters, include a name and return address and drop them into one of these special mailboxes to guarantee Santa receives their message before Christmas." These mailboxes will be a fixture of the Carmel community until Sunday, Dec. 14, so the window for posting those lists of holiday hopes is a decidedly finite one.
