Residents of Chandler, as you prep your Thanksgiving feasts and count your blessings, keep in mind the city's holiday service schedule for the long weekend. According to a City of Chandler announcement, municipal administrative offices will take a two-day hiatus, shutting doors on Thursday, Nov. 27 and Friday, Nov. 28.
Don't plan on hauling your trash or recycling to the curb on Thanksgiving Day. The City of Chandler's collection services are taking a break, too. If Thursday is typically your trash day, you'll need to roll those cans out by 6 a.m. Friday. Pick-ups will run between 6 a.m. and 5 p.m., so you might want to leave your bin out a bit long just in case.
You can catch a Turkey Swim at the Mesquite Groves Aquatic Center from 5:30-7:30 a.m. on Thanksgiving Day — and it's free with a canned food donation. Evening lap swim sessions, however, won't be happening at Mesquite Groves and Nozomi Aquatic Center that night. Other recreational facilities, including Tumbleweed Recreation Center, will be closed on Thanksgiving but open on Friday, Nov. 28 from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m, as detailed by the City of Chandler.
The City of Chandler is also taking a break from some cultural activities. The Chandler Nature Center, Snedigar Recreation Center, and all senior and community centers will be closed on Thursday and Friday. If you have overdue books, plan ahead — all four Chandler libraries will close early at 5 p.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 26 and won’t reopen until after the holiday weekend. The Chandler Museum and Vision Gallery will also be closed from Thursday through Saturday.
For those looking to catch a performance or snag tickets for upcoming shows, take note that the Center for the Arts will have its box office closed on Thanksgiving Day, but operation resumes on Friday, Nov. 28. Full details of the holiday closures and schedule changes are available on the City of Chandler's official website.
