
In downtown Knoxville, a driver went the wrong way on Locust Street, hitting a Knoxville Area Transit bus and then another vehicle. The crash happened just before 10:45 a.m. and caused only minor injuries. Charges are pending against the driver, according to WATE.
After the crash, the driver tried to flee on foot but was quickly caught by nearby officers. The Knoxville Police Department said the driver has been charged, but did not provide details. The investigation is ongoing, as reported by WBIR.
"A vehicle driving the wrong way on Locust clipped a KAT bus and struck another vehicle head-on," said Knoxville Police Department Communications Manager Scott Erland in a WVLT interview. The incident happened on Wednesday near Cumberland Avenue. Knoxville Area Transit representatives declined to comment. Law enforcement responded quickly, and no one was reported seriously injured.
