
The small community of Chattooga County is grappling with the loss of two of its members following a devastating house fire in October. Officials have now identified the victims of the tragic event as 32-year-old Natalie Cropper and her 2-year-old daughter, Theory Williams. The Chattooga County Coroner's Office confirmed their deaths in the blaze that occurred in the early morning hours of October 5 on Ridgeway Drive, according to FOX 5 Atlanta.
Emergency responders, who were reported to have been called to the scene around 4:09 a.m., included the Trion Fire Department, Summerville Fire Department, Hayes Correctional Fire Department, Atrium-Floyd EMS, and the Chattooga County Sheriff's Department. Despite their swift response, the fire claimed the lives of the mother and child, as reported by FOX 5 Atlanta. The Georgia State Fire Marshal’s Office is currently investigating the cause of the fire.
Community members and officials are still in shock over the incident, with Chattooga County Coroner Jeremy McElhaney noting the tragedy's depth.
