A high-speed chase through DuPage County has led to the pre-trial detention of 27-year-old Asdrubala Brito Marcano, a resident of Chicago's 800 block of S. Pulaski Road. Charged with Aggravated Fleeing and Eluding a Police Officer—a Class 4 Felony—and endangering the health or life of a child, Marcano appeared before Judge Joshua Dieden following the events of November 12, 2025. This announcement comes in from a joint statement released by DuPage County State’s Attorney Robert Berlin and Oak Brook Chief of Police Brian Strockis.
The ordeal began when an Oak Brook police officer noticed a Chevy Impala with suspended license plates parked illegally in a handicapped space at the Nordstrom parking lot in Oakbrook Center. Addressing the issue, the officer soon found himself in pursuit, as the driver, identified as Brito Marcano, reportedly sped off upon being approached by law enforcement. According to the DuPage County State's Attorney's Office, the chase escalated onto several highways, with Brito Marcano allegedly hitting speeds exceeding 65 mph in a 55 mph zone and engaging in dangerous maneuvers, including driving on the road shoulder.
One troubling detail of the incident that has been highlighted by authorities is the presence of a four-year-old child in the back seat during the high-speed chase. In a statement obtained by the DuPage County State's Attorney's Office, State’s Attorney Berlin expressed his concern, saying, "What I find particularly disturbing in this case are the allegations that Mr. Brito Marcano fled police at a high rate of speed, drove on the shoulder of the road and even jumped a curb while a four-year-old child was in the back seat."
As the chase progressed out of DuPage County, a Cook County Sheriff's Office helicopter joined in the observation of Brito Marcano's vehicle, eventually leading to the apprehension of the suspect after his car ran out of gas. While Brito Marcano waved down a Chicago police officer for assistance, he was their taken into custody. In response to the successful arrest, Oak Brook Chief of Police Strockis applauded his team's coordination and the aid of other policing bodies. "They had a plan, communicated the plan, utilized all available resources and executed the plan to safely take this offender into custody," Strockis told the DuPage County State's Attorney's Office.
Brito Marcano is scheduled for his next court appearance on December 8, 2025, before Judge Ann Celine O’Hallaren Walsh. The public has been reminded by legal officials that these charges only represent allegations at this stage, and Marcano retains his presumption of innocence until proven guilty in a court of law beyond a reasonable doubt.
