In an unsettling incident in Midtown Memphis, a DoorDash vehicle was commandeered by thieves, alarmingly with her child still seated in the back, authorities reported. Memphis Police were called to the 600 block of Cypress Drive just past 7 p.m. on Tuesday, responding to the carjacking. WREG documents that the mother, whose name hasn't been disclosed, was in the process of making a food delivery when the theft occurred.

According to FOX13 Memphis, the woman had stepped away to deliver the order when a man and a woman slipped into her Hyundai Sonata and proceeded to drive off. The suspects nevertheless decided to abandon the car a block away before walking on foot towards Overton Park, leaving the vehicle and the child unharmed but creating a moment of terror for the parent.

The Memphis Police Department (MPD), in an attempt to identify the perpetrators, has provided descriptions of the two suspects: a man in ripped black jeans and a hoodie, and a woman in pink leggings and a black hoodie emblazoned with "Memphis". Local Memphis included that the suspects were last observed walking toward Summer Avenue, proceeding into Overton Park.

Despite the distressing experience, the vehicle and, more crucially, the child were found safe, with no injuries reported. The MPD mentioned the child was located unharmed, a small mercy in an event that could have spiraled into a deeper tragedy, had things turned out differently. Memphis authorities are urging anyone with relevant information to reach out to Crime Stoppers at 901-528-CASH as they continue their search for the individuals responsible for the car theft.
