Authorities in Clayton County have taken a suspect into custody following a manhunt connected to a recent shooting. Clayton County Police arrested Adonis Alkarim, who had been described as "armed and dangerous," after tracing him to Moreland Avenue. According to Fox 5 Atlanta, the suspect surrendered peacefully when approached by law enforcement.
Before the arrest, the Clayton County Sheriff's Office was searching for the suspect following a fatal shooting on Wentworth Drive. The office deployed its fugitive squad to locate Adonis Alkarim, who had been identified as a potential threat. A statement obtained by 11Alive outlined the efforts to locate the suspect after a woman was shot around 6:15 p.m. and later died from her injuries at a hospital.
Police and the sheriff's office worked together to apprehend Alkarim. Authorities have not released additional details about the case or how the suspect was located. The investigation is ongoing, and officials are in the process of determining the formal charges to be filed against Alkarim.
