Shelby County Commissioner Miska Clay Bibbs is bringing back the holiday cheer with the 2nd Annual District 11 Winter Celebration, set to take place Saturday, November 29, from noon to 4 p.m. The event, which Bibbs started last year, aims to connect the community with a variety of festive activities suitable for all ages. Information about the event was disseminated by Shelby County's official site.

Participants will be treated to the sights and sounds of the holiday season, starting with the Winter Parade, which will commence from Power Center Academy High School and wind its way to New Direction Christian Church. Following the parade, the Winter Tree Lighting Ceremony is scheduled to take place at 1:30 PM, brightening spirits. And, as moved by the mirth of the holiday season, the Winter Festival will take off in the wake of the lighting ceremony from 2:00 PM onwards, packed with entertainment and activities.

The District Commissioner, Bibbs, along with various community partners, fostered this annual tradition, fostering connections among residents of District 11 neighborhoods, such as Airport Corridor, Oakhaven, Parkway Village, Hickory Hill, and Fox Meadows. The celebration underscores the unity and cultural diversity inherent within these communities. Organizations, schools, churches, and businesses interested in participating in the parade or volunteering have been invited to join the festivities.

"This year’s District 11 Winter Celebration continues the momentum of last year's success," Bibbs expressed in a statement reported by the Shelby County's announcement. "We are creating a fantastic way to unite our community and showcase the pride and vibrancy of our communities. This celebration is about spreading joy, cherishing the holiday spirit, and creating lasting memories with our families and neighbors."
