Covington Police Department made a series of arrests following the Tipton County Grand Jury on Monday, with 26 individuals now facing various charges. Police anticipate more arrests as investigations continue, as reported by the Covington Police Department.
Among those arrested is 36-year-old Stephanie Griggs of Covington, charged with theft and multiple counts of forgery for allegedly redirecting $1,500 from the WEX youth employment program. Griggs surrendered and faces a $2,500 bond, with her arraignment scheduled for November 10 at 9:00 a.m. in Tipton County Circuit Court, as stated by the Covington Police Department.
77-year-old Gary Stubblefield has been charged with 32 counts of aggravated sexual battery and continuous sexual abuse following a two-year investigation into the alleged abuse of an 8-year-old child. He was arrested at his home and is held on a $250,000 bond. Covington Police Chief Donna Turner said, "I commend the men and women at the Covington Police Department who have diligently investigated, interviewed, arrested, and collected evidence in these cases over the recent months to present to the District Attorney’s Office for review and prosecution." All defendants are presumed innocent until proven guilty, according to the Covington Police Department on their Facebook page.
