The Georgia Bureau of Investigation has completed its review of a law enforcement incident in Coffee County involving 44-year-old Thomas Randy Musgrove II of Douglas, Georgia. Musgrove faces several charges, including false imprisonment, battery, felony obstruction of law enforcement officers, reckless conduct, and criminal attempt to commit home invasion, connected to an incident on September 28.

According to the Georgia Bureau of Investigation release, Musgrove was involved in a domestic violence incident that escalated when he allegedly held his girlfriend at knifepoint at a Circle K on East Baker Highway in Douglas. He fled before officers from the Douglas Police Department arrived at the scene around 4:20 a.m. Later that morning, his residence was found on fire. The Georgia State Fire Marshal’s Office is investigating the cause of the blaze.

Law enforcement located Musgrove on Bear Creek Road, where he was reportedly armed and attempting to enter another residence. Officers from the Coffee County Sheriff’s Office fired at Musgrove after he failed to comply with commands. He was struck multiple times, received medical treatment at the scene, and was taken to a hospital where he remains in stable condition. Investigators later determined that the weapon was a replica BB gun.

The Douglas Police Department has issued an additional arrest warrant for aggravated assault related to the Circle K incident. The Georgia Bureau of Investigation is asking anyone with information about the events to contact the GBI, the Coffee County Sheriff’s Office, or the Douglas Police Department. The case findings will be submitted to the Waycross Judicial Circuit District Attorney’s Office for review and possible prosecution.
