Dover Police Department are on the lookout for a suspect after a Thanksgiving Eve robbery at Papa Jay's Pizzeria on Broadway in Dover, New Hampshire. The armed heist, taking place before 7:15 p.m. on Wednesday night, was recorded on video and shows a man threatening an employee with a gun to his head, according to 7NEWS.
As 7NEWS reports, the masked assailant entered the pizzeria, brandished a firearm, and demanded both money and the personal cell phones from the employees present. The owner, Jason Parker, described the heart-stopping moment to News 9, noting, "I got a little bit nervous there once I saw it. the other guy, he was on the ground on his knees with the gun towards his head.”
Papa Jay's establishment confirmed the traumatic experience in a statement, emphasizing their concern for all employees, particularly one young worker who was left "extremely shaken" by the episode. The shop collectively stated that while some have what they consider “strong skin," the incident managed to affect each person involved. The pizzeria also expressed gratitude that no physical injuries occurred during the frightening ordeal, as reported by WHDH.
In the wake of the crime, the business is providing support for the employees and their families as they deal with the aftermath. According to the information obtained from 7NEWS, Papa Jay's is cooperating with the Dover Police Department, though additional details have not been shared due to the ongoing investigation. The cash stolen from the register amounted to approximately a hundred dollars, Parker said to News 9. Even under duress, the main focus was to deescalate the situation, "I was like, we need to get this guy out of here. You know, let's give him the money," Parker recounted. As of late Wednesday night, Dover police had yet to apprehend the suspect.
