A fatal traffic accident has been reported at 2251 Marietta Blvd NW in Atlanta, where a male driver lost his life after his cement truck overturned and came to rest within an embankment. The Atlanta Police Department responded to the scene yesterday, just after the incident occurred at approximately 7:13 am.
According to the preliminary details disclosed by the Atlanta Police Department, the vehicle was headed northbound when it unexpectedly left the roadway, collided with an electric pole, overshot the divider, and landed on its side. Emergency services including Grady Hospital and Fire units were immediately summoned and managed to extricate the trapped driver, who was then rapidly transported to Grady hospital. Despite their efforts, the driver succumbed to his injuries.
The Atlanta Police Department’s Accident Investigations Unit is examining the circumstances behind the fatal crash. While no other vehicles were involved, the incident caused traffic delays and damaged nearby infrastructure. Power outages were also reported after the vehicle hit an electric pole. Authorities have not yet released the victim’s identity, pending family notification, and are asking witnesses to come forward.
The APD said it will provide updates as the investigation continues.
