
A car and a slow-moving freight train collided at Southwest Tualatin Valley Highway and Southwest 142nd Avenue in Beaverton on Friday morning. The driver was taken to the hospital with moderate injuries. Emergency crews responded, and traffic on 142nd Avenue was temporarily stopped, acording to KOIN.
After the accident, KGW reported that TVF&R reminded people to be careful at train crossings. "Please remember to always stop, look, and listen, especially at crossings without gates or lights," TVF&R stated. The fire agency also reminded motorists that "Trains can’t stop quickly, so drivers must always yield. Never stop on tracks and ensure there’s enough space on the other side before crossing."
The current condition of the injured driver has not been released. Authorities emphasize following safety rules at railway crossings to prevent accidents.
