
A recent report from the Portland Police Bureau details a fatal traffic accident that unfolded in the early hours of November 7 in Portland's Centennial neighborhood. The collision involved a 2017 Audi Q7, which, after eluding police, ultimately crashed into a utility pole at Southeast 148th Avenue and Southeast Division Street. The driver, the vehicle's sole occupant, was pronounced dead at the scene, as reported by the Portland Police Bureau.
According to the Portland Police Bureau's statement, an officer had initially spotted the Audi and another vehicle stopped in a lane of travel at Southeast 119th Avenue, and Southeast Clinton Street. The officer suspected the drivers intended to street race and reversed to intervene, but before emergency lights were activated, the vehicles sped away. The Audi, at the corner of Southeast Division Street at Southeast 148th Avenue, clipped a semi-truck leading to the fatal crash.
The Portland Police Traffic Division's Major Crash Team was dispatched to the location to lead the crash investigation. The area was closed to traffic in all directions during the initial phase of the inquiry. The second vehicle involved in the elusion has not been located, and the investigation persists.
