Friday night at Taco Johns on Grand Avenue turned from casual dining to a crime scene as a robbery unfolded. Around 7:50 p.m., a man entered the establishment, brandished a handgun, and demanded cash. Employees complied, and the suspect, described as a white male around 6 feet tall wearing dark clothing, made his exit with an undisclosed amount of money. The scene, which thankfully did not escalate to physical harm for staff or patrons, has left local police on the hunt for the individual responsible. The Duluth Police Department is asking for the public's assistance in this matter.
The suspect's escape direction remains a mystery, and police have been unable to locate him thus far. They are actively pursuing all leads to try and rapidly close in on the robber. Officials have urged anyone with information to step forward and have provided contact details for both the emergency number and the Duluth Police Violent Crimes Unit. In a time when community vigilance can make a crucial difference, the police’s plea underscores the necessity for witnesses to come forward.
Community members who might possess any information, no matter how seemingly inconsequential, are strongly encouraged to get in touch with law enforcement. Tips can be a critical asset in piecing together a suspect's identity or tracking their movements post-incident.
