A fire caused significant damage to a home at 497 Bullard Street in Holden. The Holden Fire Department shared in a social media post that the fire was reported at 12:55 a.m. It is believed to have started on an exterior porch and spread to the kitchen and attic.

Holden Fire Chief Russ Hall said the first responding units encountered heavy fire on the exterior porch and in the kitchen, with the fire spreading toward the attic. Firefighters, along with allied firefighting teams, responded quickly and worked to prevent further spread of the fire. Despite these efforts, the house sustained extensive damage. All occupants were able to leave the home safely and are receiving assistance from the American Red Cross.

Fire departments from Rutland, Paxton, West Boylston, Boylston, and Sterling responded to assist the Holden crews at the scene. Worcester Fire, Leicester Fire, and Spencer EMS ensured coverage in their respective areas during the response. Holden Police, HMLD, and the Holden Department of Public Works also provided support.

The cause and origin of the fire are currently under investigation by the District 8 Fire Investigation Unit. While the flames have been extinguished and the immediate danger has passed, the investigation is ongoing, and further details have not yet been released.
