Tragedy struck an Edmond community earlier this week when a young boy was found unresponsive in a local apartment complex pond. According to a social media post by Edmond Police Department, their officers responded to a distressing call just after 2 p.m. at the Coffee Creek Apartments located at 501 W. 15th Street on November 1.
The call was from a woman whose son had been fishing and reported seeing what looked to be a small child in the pond water. Edmond Fire Department personnel acted swiftly to recover the 3-year-old male child, beginning CPR immediately upon retrieval from the pond. Despite their efforts, the child was pronounced deceased after being transported to INTEGRIS Health Edmond Hospital, "The child’s parents were located shortly after he was transported from the scene", reads the Edmond Police Department report of the event.
Meanwhile, the outpouring of grief and support for the family is palpable within the Edmond community, a sentiment the police department has echoed in their public communications. "Our thoughts are with the family during this difficult time," the Edmond Police Department shared, connecting the public sorrow with the private agony of a family suddenly less one.
