As the chill of the winter season sets in, the City of El Paso warms hearts with its Virtual Gift Giving Tree initiative. Announced on social media, the city's call to action invites residents to help children, seniors, and veterans experiencing hardship feel the joy of the holidays. In a transition from the tangible to the digital, the city's traditional gift-giving approach adapts to contemporary society's embrace of online interaction.
In a festive gesture, participants are encouraged to select a gift tag virtually and then purchase and lovingly wrap a gift. El Paso's Department of Community and Human Development stands at the helm of this drive, hoping to capitalize on over three decades of community spirit. "This holiday season, the City of El Paso invites you to share the spirit of giving through our Virtual Gift Giving Tree," the City of El Paso stated in a social media post. The deadline to drop off gifts is December 5 at various fire stations and city buildings.
These acts of generosity are set to benefit organizations that provide support for those facing challenging times. The city has listed several drop-off locations across El Paso, ensuring convenient access for residents from all corners of the municipality. Addresses include central and northeast fire stations, as well as eastside and westside locations, with additional drop-offs possible at City Hall and City 3.
