El Paso police are asking for the public’s help after a 53-year-old man found with a severe head injury outside a downtown Jack in the Box died, authorities said. Officers identified the victim as Pedro Garcia.
As reported by KFOX, police responded on Oct. 15 to the Jack in the Box at 5519 Alameda following calls that initially suggested a possible shooting. Officers found Garcia unconscious with a serious head wound, and investigators later determined he had been struck in the head with an object rather than shot.
Detectives say Garcia was transported to a hospital after the Oct. 15 attack and remained under care until hospital staff notified police that he had died on Nov. 6, according to KVIA. Police describe the case as an active homicide investigation and say they continue to follow leads.
The El Paso Police Department’s non-emergency tip line is 915-832-4400, and anyone who prefers to remain anonymous can contact Crime Stoppers of El Paso at 915-566-TIPS (8477), as per KFOX. Investigators asked that anyone who was in the area of the 5500 block of Alameda on Oct. 15 or who has video from that time contact police.
As of Nov. 7, police have not announced any arrests in the case and say they will release additional information as it becomes available, according to KVIA. The investigation remains active, and detectives continue to canvass the area for witnesses.
