A 21-year-old suspect, Jaeveyin Porter, is currently facing murder charges following a fatal shooting at La Estancia apartment complex in El Paso. According to the El Paso Police Department, the incident took place on the 7900 block of Viscount around 11:49 am yesterday. The victim was found deceased outside an apartment on the second floor.
Police were able to locate Porter at 1100 Sunmount after canvassing the area, a man whose description matched that of the suspected shooter. Upon arrest, Porter was booked into the El Paso County Detention Facility, as reported by the El Paso Police Department. The Crimes Against Persons unit has taken over the ongoing investigation.
Initial findings from the police suggest an argument led up to the confrontation between Porter and the female reporter, before the victim, identified only as Garcia at this time, was shot. The reporter had apparently departed the scene only to return with Garcia later, at which point the fatal incident occurred. Shortly after the shooting, Porter fled but was subsequently apprehended without further incident.
