The episode, originally reported as a possible shooting at the Jack in the Box on 5519 Alameda, was later revealed to be a more brutal crime upon closer examination by authorities. Responding to the call, police found the victim, identified only as Garcia, lying unconscious on the ground with a severe injury to his forehead. Initially, it was suspected that Garcia had been shot, but medical personnel at the local hospital later determined the wound was inflicted by a blunt object, according to the El Paso Police Department.
On November 6th, almost three weeks after the incident, the hospital alerted the Crimes Against Persons Unit that Garcia had succumbed to his injuries.
