
Tragedy struck the streets of El Paso once again last night as the city recorded its 57th traffic fatality of the year. The El Paso Police Department reported that the Special Traffic Investigations unit responded to a fatal collision involving a pedestrian on the 300 block of Santa Fe. In a social media post by the El Paso Police Department, authorities revealed preliminary findings that a pedestrian, whose identity has not been disclosed at this time, was walking outside of a crosswalk when struck by a northbound Dodge Ram.
The driver, who has not been charged as of reporting, was traveling on Santa Fe when the collision occurred. According to the El Paso Police Department, "The main contributing factor in this collision is pedestrian on the roadway." Sadly, the individual hit by the vehicle succumbed to their injuries. It is worth noting, the incident marks a somber milestone, matching the city's traffic fatality count at the same time last year.
