The El Paso community has been rocked by a recent kidnapping incident involving a 21-year-old woman, thankfully resolved with the victim's safe return and the arrest of the alleged perpetrator. On Sunday, local police responded to a distress call from the 11600 block of Cayuga, plunging them into an investigation of what turned out to be aggravated kidnapping and family violence.
Upon their arrival, law enforcement officers were made aware of the situation at hand when a young woman had been taken against her will. The Crimes Against Persons Unit quickly took charge of the investigation, leading to the identification of one suspect, named Chaparro. Reappearing after her captor had released her, likely in response to the police's mobilization, provided disturbing accounts of assault preceding the kidnapping.
According to the El Paso Police Department, their diligent efforts bore fruit when they located and arrested Chaparro. The custody of the El Paso County Detention Facility now houses him, his freedom curtailed by the procedural and legal restraints awaiting those accused of such serious allegations.
