Heads up, Flagstaff commuters, you're gonna want to pad your travel times next week. Starting Tuesday, Dec. 2, through Wednesday, Dec. 3, there will be intermittent closures along northbound US 89, just north of Flagstaff. These temporary halts, lasting up to 15 minutes each, are for drainage system maintenance, according to the Arizona Department of Transportation (ADOT).
The closures are expected to take place between 7 a.m. and 5 p.m., near milepost 430, that's north of the Doney Park and Timberline-Fernwood areas, or roughly 15 miles north of downtown Flagstaff. For those who frequent this route, plan ahead to avoid delays.
ADOT has got you covered if you're looking for real-time highway conditions. Check out their Arizona Traveler Information site at AZ511.gov, or if you're on the go, the az511 app is available for download on both Apple and Android devices. Otherwise, old-school travelers can get the same info by dialing 511.
