In a recent initiative to engage the youth and broaden horizons for future emergency service professionals, the Fairfield Fire Department, with support from the Fairfield Professional Firefighters Association and Medic Ambulance, has rolled out a Youth Fire Academy for students in the Fairfield-Suisun Unified School District. According to a social media post by the department, the program aims to lay a foundation of knowledge and experience for those considering a path in firefighting, paramedics, or emergency medicine.
This educational outreach included an array of activities ranging from a physical fitness session and a detailed presentation titled "Pathway to Becoming a Firefighter-Paramedic," to hands-on training across multiple stations, covering essential skills such as fire attack, forcible entry, auto extrication, and CPR/AED, the post also highlighted a live demonstration of a simulated structure fire response that detailed an intricate rescue operation which showed not only the skill but the teamwork and decision making this path demands.
The Fairfield Fire Department has expressed its appreciation for the individuals who contributed their expertise and time as instructors, along with the volunteers and partners who have embraced the spirit of community growth and skill development. The underlying objective of this program, as per the department, is to foster stronger community connections and cultivate an interest in careers that are integral to public safety and service.
