Yesterday morning in Boston’s North End, bricks fell from a building at 242 Hanover St., narrowly missing pedestrians and damaging a vehicle. According to WHDH, police and fire officials responded quickly, securing the area with metal barriers and redirecting foot traffic to ensure public safety.
A restaurant at 242 Hanover St. temporarily closed while the city’s Inspectional Services Department conducted safety inspections. After a preliminary check, the building was declared stable, and a detailed report is being prepared to determine the cause of the falling bricks and assess overall safety.
Local resident Evan Frechette told WCVB that the incident could have been more serious during busier times, such as weekends, when more pedestrians, including children, are in the area. The area will remain under observation while an investigation continues.
