A truck incident on the north side of Indianapolis led to an unexpected breach into a family's home, causing structural damage and displacing the residents. Last night, Indianapolis Fire Department crews responded to a report of a truck that had penetrated the back wall and entered the kitchen of an apartment located in the 7000 block of Portland Square, WTHR reported. The incident occurred around 7:45 p.m., and fortunately, the family who lived there was not in the kitchen at the time of the crash.
The driver of the truck sustained slight injuries and was transported to a hospital for treatment, according to details from the Indianapolis Fire Department provided by WRTV. The apartment building's address on Portland Square, is situated near the intersection of Township Line Road and Westlane Road, a detail noted by public emergency reporting systems that tracked the response of both the fire department and the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department around 7:41 p.m. for what was initially described as a structure collapse and crash investigation, as per FOX59.
The impact of the truck compromised the structural integrity of the home, leading authorities to determine it unsafe for habitation. The family of three, now without a residence, is arranging alternate lodging with the help of apartment management. IMPD has taken up the investigation into the cause of the accident, although no further details have been released regarding what led to the truck's collision with the building.
