A driver who had stopped on eastbound Interstate 270 near West Florissant Avenue was struck and killed after exiting their vehicle this morning. The Missouri Department of Transportation reported the crash occurred around 5:40 a.m, according to KSDK.
The Missouri State Highway Patrol told First Alert 4 that a pedestrian who had exited their vehicle and was standing by the door was struck by a passing car. The victim was taken to the hospital in critical condition and later died. The driver involved remained at the scene.
MoDOT reports that three eastbound lanes of I-270 at West Florissant Avenue, along with the shoulder, are currently closed. One lane remains open to traffic.
