
A pedestrian accident caused a halt in traffic on Interstate 405 in Portland today. According to the City of Portland, Portland Police reported that a male pedestrian was struck and killed by a vehicle near Southwest Corbett Street at around 1:40 a.m.
The driver involved in the incident remained at the scene and cooperated with responding officers from Portland Police’s Central Precinct. The Portland Police Traffic Division Major Crash Team launched an investigation, which required closing Interstate 405 at the junction with northbound Interstate 5. The closure is expected to last several hours, with significant traffic diversions in place while officers investigate the circumstances of the crash.
The Public Information Officer had not provided an immediate response at the scene, and details regarding the cause of the accident or the identity of the deceased have not been released, as the investigation is ongoing. Commuters are advised to use alternate routes due to expected congestion and delays from the road closure.
