A former deputy from Allen Parish was arrested this past weekend, implicated in what now simmers as a stew of wrongdoing and police misconduct, a narrative so often repeated it's etched deep into the fabric of yet another Louisiana parish – but this time it’s the former Allen Parish Sheriff's Office's own Winston Lambright at its twisted center.
Lambright, according to the Louisiana State Police (LSP), allegedly misused the Louisiana Law Enforcement Telecommunications System (LLETS), an infraction compounded by him then allegedly taking that purloined information to the boundless plains of social media through the hands of a civilian, the incident has clearly breached the trust foundational to policing and skirts the parameters of what we might understand to be law enforcement integrity.
Yesterday, the machinations of justice ground forward – Lambright was arrested and charged with unlawful search and dissemination of criminal history information, trespass against state computers, and malfeasance in office after the Vernon Parish Sheriff's Office laid the initial groundwork to call in the state police for assistance, Lambright's tenure as a deputy was bookended unceremoniously at the VPSO where he was processed, according to Louisiana State Police.
The Louisiana State Police are continuing their investigation. Evidence and findings will be submitted to the Vernon Parish District Attorney’s Office. No further details have been released at this time.
