Not even a full day later, the second homicide took place. James Hubbard Jr., aged 50, was found with a gunshot wound to the head in his vehicle outside his residence. The discovery was made in the early hours after the Forrest City Police Department responded to a call about an unresponsive man on Rosser near St. Francis Avenue, as reported by Action News 5. Further details emerged from WREG coverage, indicating that Hubbard was discovered slumped over in the driver's seat of his black Chevrolet Malibu. A witness and his girlfriend initially found the victim but left the scene before the arrival of local law enforcement.
The prior day's incident involved Jovita Adkins, who stands accused of killing her 77-year-old mother, Gloria Nowan. Forrest City police disclosed to WREG that Adkins had a history of undiagnosed mental health issues. Authorities plan to bring charges against Adkins for first-degree murder.
