
A burglary case involving semi-trucks in St. Lucie County has led to the arrest of a Fort Pierce man. The St. Lucie County Sheriff's Office responded to a call at a semi-truck parking business on 1407 Angle Road on Tuesday, where a suspect was reported rummaging through vehicles, according to information shared by CBS12.
Deputies arrived at the scene around 8:44 p.m. and were able to detain the suspect, identified as 42-year-old Steven Monaco, the suspect was taken into custody without incident. During the on-site investigation, deputies discovered gloves and several items believed to have been stolen from the cabs of the trucks, as per reports from Sunshine News.
Further inquiries by the authorities revealed that Monaco had allegedly gained access to the property by climbing over the fence. The stolen goods recovered at the site helped in linking Monaco to the thefts from the semi-trucks in what was a swiftly unfolding series of events.
Currently, Monaco faces charges of Burglary of an Unoccupied Conveyance, and Trespassing as, he remains housed at the St. Lucie County Jail awaiting further legal proceedings. Both outlets have noted that all suspects are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law, and the charges against Monaco are merely allegations at this stage.
