It was a close call for residents of a Foster City home when a 29-year-old woman crashed her Tesla Sedan into their residence amid a mental health crisis. According to a social media post from the Foster City Police Department, the incident occurred last Saturday. The police found the driver in a state of distress, sitting on the ground near her vehicle after it had plowed through a backyard fence and into the side of a house located in the 300 block of Thatcher Lane.
The car continued its unplanned journey, finally coming to a halt after smashing into a light pole in the front yard. Remarkably, the three occupants of the home, who were slumbering, remained unscathed. The driver, however, sustained injuries, including abrasions and trauma to her collarbone. Foster City Police noted that the driver's behavior was not indicative of drug or alcohol use.
Following an evaluation by both police and medical personnel, it was confirmed that the driver was undergoing a significant mental health crisis, necessitating her transport to a local hospital for further care. In light of this event, the Foster City Police Department has forwarded a case for reckless driving to the District Attorney's Office for review.
