Yesterday, commuters on the Palmetto Expressway in Miami-Dade experienced delays when law enforcement detained four individuals in connection with a reported stolen vehicle. The incident occurred in the northbound lanes near West Flagler Street and did not involve a chase, officials said, according to Local 10.
The Florida Highway Patrol and Miami-Dade Sheriff’s Office deputies worked together on the stop. Around 1:45 p.m., deputies from the Midwest District assisted after a deputy initially identified a white Range Rover Sport reported stolen. The investigation temporarily closed the northbound SR-826 off-ramp, as per NBC Miami.
The Miami-Dade Sheriff’s Office confirmed that the stop occurred without injuries or complications, and the driver complied without incident. The identities of those detained have not been released, and no charges have been announced. Detectives from the MDSO Midwest Auto Theft Unit are handling the ongoing investigation.
