
A fire broke out yesterday morning at a two-story multifamily building on the corner of Maple and Amherst streets in Manchester, New Hampshire, leaving four people injured, including two residents and two firefighters. The Manchester Fire Department responded to the call around 8:40 a.m., encountering heavy flames and smoke while searching for residents reportedly trapped inside, NBC Boston reported.
Firefighters entered the building amid extreme heat and heavy smoke to search for residents and contain the fire, according to Manchester Ink Link. No additional victims were found, and two firefighters sustained minor burns during the operation.
The fire, which caused an estimated $150,000 in damage, affected the first floor and the basement of the building. Authorities continue to investigate the cause of the blaze. Battalion Chief Robert Plantier served as the incident commander. The identities and conditions of the injured residents have not been released.
