
Gatlinburg is set to host the 36th annual Winter Magic Kickoff and Chili Cookoff along Parkway between Traffic Light No. 6 and Reagan Drive/Maples Lane, inviting visitors to celebrate the winter season in the Smoky Mountains. The event promises festive fun for both locals and tourists, featuring food, entertainment, and seasonal activities, as reported by the City of Gatlinburg.
Traffic changes will affect attendees on Thursday, with southbound Parkway lanes closing at 9:00 a.m., directing drivers to River Road or Cherokee Orchard Road. Northbound lanes will close by 10:00 a.m., with detours to Airport Road or back to River Road, according to the City of Gatlinburg.
Gatlinburg’s Winter Fest kickoff starts at 5 p.m. with a chili contest featuring local businesses. The Winter Magic Countdown, when millions of lights will be turned on, begins at 6 p.m. The event ends at 9 p.m., and Parkway will remain closed until midnight.
