The Georgia Department of Corrections has ushered in a new era under the newly appointed Executive Director of Georgia Correctional Industries, Janine Robinson, whose promotion was announced earlier this week. According to an official statement from the department, Robinson took over the reins last Saturday, bringing in more than a decade of correctional experience to the forefront of an industry that interweaves manufacturing with inmate rehabilitation.

Commissioner Tyrone Oliver hailed the choice, stating, "Janine bring a vast array of correctional knowledge and experience driving the mission of GCI," and expressed confidence in Robinson's ability to foster innovation and grow the organization's diverse operations that span manufacturing to agribusiness. Her journey through the correctional system's ranks began in 2007, as she took her first strides as a Probation Officer and has since navigated through an array of leadership roles, from Sex Offender Administration to Prison Industry Enhancement Coordinator enhancing each with her distinctive competency, as reported by GDC.

Robinson's educational background is just as robust as her professional one, holding a Bachelor of Arts in Criminal Justice from the University of Georgia and a suite of specialized departmental trainings. These trainings encompass Basic and Advanced Management Training, Warden’s Pre-Command, Chief Probation Officer Pre-Command among others, and certifications like Law Enforcement Crisis Intervention Team, that have no doubt sharpened the skills she will need in her new executive role.

Before ascending to her current position, Robinson had tackled the challenges of the Director of the Administrative Support Unit, responsible for managing fleet operations, the Automotive Academy, a Statewide Call Center, and Risk Management Programs, she has donned many hats and showcased her multifaceted expertise in steering the correctional industry toward its goals.
