In a recent string of incidents cataloged by the Germantown Police Department, residents and local businesses have fallen prey to various criminal activities, from fraud to theft, underscoring the persistent challenge of crime in the area.
A business on the 9200 block of Poplar Avenue was the target of fraud when a package was taken under deceptive pretenses, as reported by the department on its social media post. This incident was logged at 5:01 p.m. on October 30, indicating a level of premeditation by the perpetrator, having stolen the said package with fraudulent means.
Later that night, two separate victims reported unruly entries into their vehicles on the 7700 block of Poplar Pike. Interestingly, the offenders seemed to be window shopping, leaving behind possibly a trail of frustration, as nothing was taken after their intrusion. The time stamp on these reports was marked at 9:54 p.m., as per the department's public log.
Unfortunately, the evening's illegal encounters didn't halt at theft. A weapon law violation punctuated the night's events. At 10:01 p.m., on the same block of Poplar Pike, a subject, caught in the very act of possessing a firearm unlawfully, was detained by officers.
