A Goodyear residence was devastated early Saturday after a bathroom fan ignited a fire that led to the complete destruction of the home, as emergency teams from Goodyear Fire Department responded to the scene located near Elliot Road and Estrella Parkway soon after a 911 call was made at approximately 4:30 a.m., ABC15 reported.
The homeowner thought they had successively obliterated the flames after noticing a minor fire within the fan, however smoke began to fill their habitation hours later this oversight led to a frantic call for help and when firefighters arrived on 180th Avenue, they were met with an aggressive fire consuming the second floor of the abode, a defensive strategy was needed after the situational assessment indicated that the fire was beyond controlling measures for an interior attack as explained by the AZFamily coverage.
No one was hurt, but two residents were displaced by the fire. Officials advised using timers or auto-shutoffs on exhaust fans and not leaving them on overnight. The Avondale Fire Department and Arizona Fire and Medical Authority put out the blaze, and the cause is still under investigation, as per AZFamily.
