Residents of Goodyear should be aware of a proposed increase in utility rates. A public hearing on the new rate plan is scheduled for December 15 during the Goodyear City Council meeting at 5 p.m., to be held in the City Council Chambers at 1900 N. Civic Square.
The proposed plan would raise rates for the average Goodyear residential customer by about 5.8% to 5.9% annually over the next four years, starting in early 2026, according to the City of Goodyear. The additional revenue is intended to support the city’s daily operations and maintenance, with a significant portion allocated for capital improvements to strengthen the city’s infrastructure.
Goodyear, like many cities, is facing rising costs due to factors such as inflation, market pressures, and increasing expenses for electricity, construction, equipment, treatment materials, and disposal services. The city says these additional funds are necessary to maintain safe, reliable, and high-quality utility services for residents.
