Gwinnett County's annual Veterans Day tribute has been moved indoors due to cold weather in the region. The ceremony, a regular community event, is held to recognize and honor the service of military veterans.
Originally scheduled outdoors, officials relocated the ceremony to the Gwinnett Justice and Administration Center Auditorium. The event will take place today at 11 a.m. at 75 Langley Drive, Lawrenceville, with veterans, their families, and residents in attendance. Visitors will use the front entrance instead of the usual parking deck entrance.
According to a press release, Chairwoman Nicole Love Hendrickson's Stand Down event will follow the ceremony, providing veterans and their families with access to resources and services for life after military service.
The dais will feature remarks from local officials, including Chairwoman Nicole Love Hendrickson and Commissioners Kirkland Carden and Jasper Watkins. The keynote address will be delivered by Deputy Commissioner of the Georgia Department of Veterans Service and Retired Army Sgt. Maj. Kerry Dyer.
