
The Georgia Bureau of Investigation has taken into custody a man from Hartsfield, Georgia, following allegations of rape and aggravated sodomy. The GBI announced the arrest of 33-year-old Hayden Lee Gandy, the suspect in a sexual assault investigation triggered by local authorities.
According to the official report by the GBI, the Colquitt County Sheriff's Office enlisted the bureau's help last Sunday. An inquiry ensued, in which GBI agents alongside Colquitt County investigators discerned that Gandy was an acquaintance of the victim. Officials executed a search warrant at the site of the alleged crimes that same day, gathering various items as evidence.
The suspect was taken into custody the following day and is currently being held at the Colquitt County Jail. Law enforcement authorities have emphasized that the investigation is still active, encouraging the public to contribute any relevant information. Tips can be shared with the GBI’s Regional Investigative Office in Thomasville, or anonymously through various channels including a hotline at 1-800-597-TIPS (8477), and the "See Something, Send Something" mobile app. While details are ongoing, the Southern Judicial Circuit District Attorney’s Office is expected to pursue prosecution upon completion of the investigation.
